Batter Days, Chapter 11

The Princess and the Governor

It looks like Captain Broughha has begun to make his move. The KRAWLR assault vehicle has taken up position right outside the entrance to The Tunnels. Or at least the corridor that leads to The Tunnels. Meanwhile, Cindy has asked another person for help in the search for the Waffle Batter sphere. This thing appears to be becoming the worst-kept secret in Middling Fair! But, while the gang has to wait for Princess to arrive at the library end of The Tunnels, we get to jump over to the bus and hear Old Man Spooner sing a song. It may be the last moment of peace we get as the story heats up.

Batter Days, Chapter 10

A Towering Connection

Even though Brax Higgins didn’t give Buzz and Haartte much to go on, everyone needs to take their best guess at deciding where to go to search for the Waffle Batter sphere. After all, time is running out. Mayor Rory had only given Cindy a few days to correct the power and water problems the other spheres are causing. Locating the Waffle Batter sphere is critical to saving both The Tunnels and Middling Fair. But, before Buzz can join Cindy and Detective Haartte, who are already trying to decipher Higgins cryptic clues, he must conduct a The Tunnels radio interview with Kipper and Mulligan.

Prison Bound and Determined

Buzz “Scoop’ Crackerjack Thomas and Detective Haartte travel to the town of Convenience to speak with former Little Wicker Baskets executive, Brax Higgins. That could prove awkward. Higgins is currently in jail, and it was an investigation by Thomas and Haartte that put him there. But Buzz and Haartte believe Higgins has information critical to finding the Waffle Batter sphere. If only they could be a certain that he will cooperate. Meanwhile, at Camp Parmenter, Chief and 10 Toes finally start to get some idea of what lies ahead for them when Captain Broughha gives his fellow Magenta Fedoras a briefing.

Let’s make a deal

She does not have much time to find the sphere and try to stop the power and water problems happening in town. Haartte recounts how the power issues ruined one of his cases.
