STORY 1: BETAMAX
CLINTON
Here are our stories for Friday, August 23rd, 2024.
Now that Polaroids and vinyl albums have made a comeback, what will be the next retro product to slow boomerang back into our lives. We have our first clue. Sony is taking a gamble and bringing back the Betamax. A company executive is quoted as saying, "Our target audience is people who are old enough to remember that their parents had a VCR, but not old enough to remember it was VHS."

STORY 2: PIZZA BRAIN
CLINTON
Now lets get to our actual, for-real Odd News story...
Today's #PizzaFriday story takes us to the city of brotherly love - Philadelphia, PA.
Here we find what is billed as the world's first and largest pizza museum. Because when you think Philly, you think...pizza?
Actually, when the owners of the museum were doing their initial research in 2011, they were surprised to discover that there wasn't already a pizza museum in Italy, or New York, or Chicago. So, why not Philadelphia?
The museum is named "Pizza Brain." Probably because Pizza Mouth or Pizza Stomach would be too disturbing. And it's not a huge, multi-level, purpose-built pizza-slice-shaped building, although that would be cool. It's in an average storefront in the Fishtown neighborhood.
The idea for the museum evolved out of a pizza art exhibit. There was such a strong reaction to the exhibit, the organizers knew they were onto something. Shortly thereafter, the exhibit collection, and a lot more, were being readied for display. There was even a huge Pizza-delphia mural created for the outdoor courtyard.
When you step inside "Brain Pizza" you'll notice album covers and 45's on the walls, each one related to pizza. Check out the collection of games, puzzles and toys. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Got 'em. USS Enterprise pizza cutter? Check! Peter Parker/Spiderman delivering pizza via motorcycle? Of course! The Noid? Got one. And a Dominoes delivery car topper, too! And, of course, you'll find a poster for Mystic Pizza among the movie items.
In fact, there are so many pizza-related items here, this place has a -- you guessed it -- Guinness World Record for Largest Collection of Pizza Related Items.
And here's the best part. It's not just a museum, it's also a pizzeria! Order up a pie and dine amongst the memorabilia.
So, if you can't make it to Arby's Prince Street Pizza on Sunset, head to "Pizza Brain" and have a slice for me, will ya?

STORY 3: COMING UP
CLINTON
And finally, coming up this weekend on Odd News+, malls across the country are closing. What will we do with them? We visit one that has been converted into the worlds longest bowling alley. A released ball takes two minutes to reach the pins and an average game takes up to three hours to play. Still, most bowlers agree it's better than the food court-length curling ice sheet Toronto's Eaton Center is building.
