The survey says…

I’ve received back a big report on the survey we have here on the comedy4cast Web site. (If you haven’t taken the survey, please feel free to do so by clicking here.) While there is lots of data in the report, I won’t bore you with all the details. Rather, I’d like to concentrate on two areas: show content and commercials.

First, regarding show content, the survey reinforced my belief that humor is subjective. For example, some people really love The Basically Podcast Show with Lenny Treetop, and a few listeners out there could do without Lenny. Some people like the episodes that feature “family life” skits, while others prefer shows that poke fun at other podcasts. There were even comments that the show is not consistently funny. To me, this indicates that the show is striking a good balance, with something for everyone at one point or another. That doesn’t mean that the show won’t continue to change over time. It will. It’s just that I didn’t see anything that proved to be a major issue regarding content. Which is good, because it means we’re all on the same wavelength.

I also wanted to touch on commercials. There was no groundswell of support for the commercialization of comedy4cast. And I understand your concerns. However, if I can find some way to offset some of the costs of the show, or to buy some additional equipment to make the show better, I’m going to try to make that work. Survey respondends found the following three areas to be “least offensive” (and I tend to agree with the choices): entertainment, electronics and computer hardware and software. So, should advertising opportunites come along, I’ll try to focus on those categories.

Thanks to everyone who completed the survey. It is much appreciated. And, again, if you haven’t taken the survey, now is a good time to do it.
